When mothers get an infection or bacteria, her immune cells produce antibodies that can be passed down to the offspring, protecting the offspring from the infection or disease when the offspring is exposed to it in the future.

Mothers can still breastfeed their baby as long as they observe precautionary measures such as proper handwashing before and after breastfeeding the baby and wearing a surgical mask properly.
